On August 1st Detyens Shipyards received the award of the topside availability for the USNS Sisler from Maersk Lines Ltd. This will be the fourth LMSR to be done at Detyens this year. Prior to the Sisler, we have completed similar availabilities on the Soderman, Watkins, and Dahl. Although won through competitive bidding, the Sisler contract is just as much a result of the excellent relationship between Detyens and Maersk and the quality workmanship that began with the T-AGOS class ships docked at the Wando Yard many years ago.
The 950 foot vessel is scheduled to arrive at Detyens on August 30 for a 35 day availability. The work scope; in excess of $4.5 million, is similar to that completed on the previous LMSRs and includes major modifications to the vessels deck drains, preparation and painting of the superstructure, A deck, cargo hold, and Helo deck.
